As Chiloquin enters its second century, revitalizing our downtown is a key part of building a vibrant and welcoming community. Through partnerships with local property owners and Chiloquin Visions in Progress (CVIP), the City is supporting efforts to restore and repurpose historic buildings along Main Street. These projects are helping bring new life to underutilized spaces while preserving the character and history that make Chiloquin unique.

Supporting Revitalization Through Partnerships

These projects are being led by local property owners and supported by Chiloquin Visions in Progress (CVIP), the community’s designated Downtown Main Street organization. CVIP plays a key role in connecting property owners with funding opportunities, technical assistance, and project support.

Oregon Main Street Revitalization Grant

Both projects have been supported in part through the Oregon Main Street Revitalization Grant program, which provides funding to restore, rehabilitate, and reuse historic buildings in downtown areas.

This competitive grant program helps communities like Chiloquin:

  • Preserve historic structures

  • Support local businesses

  • Increase housing opportunities

  • Strengthen downtown economies

By leveraging this funding, Chiloquin is able to make meaningful improvements that might not otherwise be possible, while maintaining the historic character of the community.

Looking Ahead

Downtown revitalization is an ongoing effort. These projects are just the beginning of a broader vision to create a more active, attractive, and economically vibrant Main Street.

As we build on this momentum, the City and CVIP will continue working with property owners and partners to identify new opportunities for investment and improvement.

Chiloquin Hotel Renovation

A major revitalization effort is underway at the former Chiloquin Hotel building. This project will transform the upper floor into 10 studio apartments, creating much-needed housing in the downtown core. The ground floor will provide space for future commercial use, supporting local businesses and economic activity. This project represents a significant investment in both housing and economic development, helping to bring more residents and energy into downtown Chiloquin. The project is expected to be completed sometime in 2028.

HIRVI Building Restoration

The HIRVI Building project marked an important early step in Chiloquin’s downtown revitalization efforts. This historic building sits as an anchor point as you come into town, and was vacant for over 20 years. Through renovation and restoration, this building has been preserved and returned to active use, demonstrating the potential of reinvesting in existing structures. The HIRVI Building boasts six professional office spaces and four unique retail spaces, breathing new life into downtown Chiloquin. The success of this project helped build momentum for additional revitalization efforts and showed what is possible through strong local partnerships.
