Pocket Park Project

Rendering of the new pocket park

The park committee is working on a new Chiloquin Main Street Pocket Park that will be located within the city's public parking lot at the corner of Chocktoot and First. The Park will offer a peaceful and pleasant place for all community members to spend time outdoors. The benches, seating and table will provide accessible comfortable spots to sit and relax, socialize with friends, enjoy a good book, or take in the City Friday Farmers Market.  With the addition of flower beds, the park will create a beautiful and colorful space encouraging all residents to engage with nature promoting mental health and well-being. The new ADA benches and seating will make the park accessible and useable for seniors and others with mobility issues. The central location will encourage seniors and others to walk to or from the community center, library, post office or city hall.

This project has been started with a $10,000 grant from The Klamath Tribes and an additional $2,000 from Chiloquin Community Builders (CCB), a program of Chiloquin Visions In Progress, a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit. This money will be used to lay the concrete pad for the new park, create planter boxes that will wrap around the flagpoles and build two seating walls. The concrete pad is expected to be laid in May 2023.

Update 6-28-2023

The City of Chiloquin is thrilled to announce that we have been selected to receive a 2023 AARP Community Challenge grant. We are one of only 310 grantees selected (out of 3,600+ applications!) from across all 50 states, Washington D.C, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. With this quick-action grant the city will complete the new Chiloquin Main Street Pocket Park by allowing the city to purchase the ADA benches and table that will be placed in the new pocket park. Over the next month, the park committee will conduct community outreach to select the benches and table that will be purchased and installed. If you would like to participate with the park committee or community outreach efforts, please contact City Hall.

The park committee is also working on developing a parks master plan for the city.
